Dear Avalanche Families,
My O My how time flies when you are having fun! Avalanche families we have 36 days before the last day of school. There is a lot to do before June to wrap-up the year and celebrate students. The most recent interim progress report will be available this week in Schoology. May begins Smarter Balance Assessments and June will provide GV the opportunity to celebrate our 9th graders.
Restrooms are closed during passing periods. This adjustment is a response to the amount of skipping, vandalism, and fights taking place during passing time. Students have access to the restroom all other times of the day with a pass from their teacher. To reduce the number of bullying incidents, we are limiting the number of students in the restroom at one time. As a reminder, we are not denying access to the restroom, we are increasing safety.
To increase the security of our campus, we are returning to a closed campus. With the removal of the one-directional hallway, all exterior doors and classroom doors will be closed and locked. As a reminder, this is not a new adjustment. Prior to COVID restrictions, Glacier View was a closed campus. Locking exterior doors and keeping classrooms closed helps keep Glacier View students and staff members safe while on campus.
Hallway sweeps. Glacier View admin and staff will be doing hallway sweeps after passing periods. Students out in the hallway after the bell without a pass may be subject to an admin conference and/or other consequences. All students will need a hall pass, signed by teacher/GV staff when moving throughout the building. Passes can be found in the back of the student planner.
Thank you again for your support and patience.
Warmest regards,
Ms. Bens, Positively Passionate Principal
